As part of a Focus Project in collaboration with mechanical engineering students from ETH Zurich, Nora Strebel and I were responsible for designing the SkinReactor machine. Its purpose is to multiply the skin cells of young patients to create new skin patches for treating severe burns.
Rather than a production-ready product, our task was to build a machine that helps researchers advance the tissue-engineering process. The result, SkinReactor, is now being tested and refined in the lab.
